My Wool Shawls
April 4, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
One of the comments I have heard most from women friends is something like “Spring is a difficult season in which to decide what to wear. The weather can be warm or cold, so do we dress heavily or skimpily?” “Should I wear a jacket or a sweater?” Well, I have a great idea for anyone who has asked these questions of yourself or your friends. Get a shawl! I have two wool shawls, both are rectangular pieces of lovely fabric that, in cool weather can be worn around the shoulders, or, in warm weather, can be folded over the arm. I have also made use of them at other times of year when some restaurants have a tendency to over-air-condition.
Fuzzy White Neck Scarf

My favorite item of winter clothing is a fuzzy white neck scarf. Many times fuzzy items can be scratchy, but not my white scarf. It looks great with whatever I am wearing out, whether I am dressing up or dressing down. The funny thing about my scarf is that when I bought it, I didn’t even want the scarf, I wanted the sweater that came with it. Turns out the sweater looks terrible on me and fits awkwardly so the only part of the set that I use is the scarf. It is pretty, fashionable and helps keep my ears warm when I go outside.

How to Make Legwarmers
November 3, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment
The quickest way to make a pair of legwarmers is to cut the sleeves off of a sweater. Granted, it’s not quite that simple (you’ve got to finish the ends so they don’t unravel), and you have to have a sweater that you don’t want to wear as a sweater anymore, but I think that even with no sewing experience at all, a little ingenuity can solve those problems. If you’re especially adventurous, you can add ribbons and bows and buttons also! It seems that what I’m interested in is not crafting for crafting’s sake, but rather having the ability to get or create what I want while minimizing time and/or money spent. Plus, a bonus sweater-vest!

My Jeans
September 29, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment
My favorite piece of clothing is my black, skinny, Rock & Republic jeans. I got them at a sample sale in Washington, D.C. and they are perfect for any occasion. I can dress them down with a loose cardigan and flat sandals for day and for night I can wear them with a flashy top and a pair of peep toe black pumps. They are also great for winter because they don’t bunch in a pair of boots. Black is also the perfect color for a skinny jean because it is the most slimming. I plan on having these jeans for a long time because they are so versatile and well made.
