Godet Silhouette Skirt
August 25, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
The godet silhouette skirt is ideal for the summer time. It is designed to suit women of all sizes as this cut flatters the curves. It’s a look that is perfect for the office as it does not look casual instead it’s chic and adds a touch of class to the wearer. This skirt goes well with heels but you can also wear cute ballet flats. Layering is also in this summer as well as dresses made from sheer fabrics. Really high heels are in this summer but you have the option of detailed sandals or thong slippers that go well with brightly coloured dresses and skirts.
Samoan Print Summer Shirt

Among the many articles of clothing my email penpal from New Zealand has sent me is my favorite summer shirt. It is light tan, collarless, with short sleeves and a short row of black buttons at the neckline. It is from Samoa and the fabric is printed with black markings from that culture. I wear it with jeans or a skirt and it is a great conversation starter. Sometimes I wear it with a black stone necklace from the island nation of Vanuatu, also a gift. The shirt is a light cotton and very comfortable on a hot summer day.
New York and Company is My Favorite Place for Women’s Clothing

The absolute best place to shop for women’s clothes is New York and Company. The style of clothes ranges from casual to business attire. When I go to the mall, I can make one stop and get everything that I need at New York and Company.
I actually just went shopping for my summer clothes at New York and Company. I was able to buy clothes for work as well as casual clothes. They have tank tops, t-shirts, bathing, suits, shorts (Bermuda, crops and shorts), dresses, skirts, vests, etc. I also bought light weight pants and light weight long sleeve shorts for work.
They sell sandals as well as jewelry. Do you plan on just lounging around for the day? They have the Comfort Zone which features comfortable clothes. Do you plan on working out? They have InMotion Fitness which has the most comfortable clothes to work out in.
The best thing about New York and Company is the sales. Shirts normally range from $20 to $40 while pants normally range from $30 to $50. However, they have a sale at least twice a month. If you give them your e-mail, they will send you news and coupons weekly. Most coupons are for $25 off a $75 purchase.
New York and Company is a one-stop shop for everything you need for the summer. I am heading back up there this weekend to buy some Bermuda shorts and tank tops!
Pedi and some Cute Sandals

Once the snow melts, most woman run for their wedges and heels. But there is nothing more sexy than a pair of simple sandals accented with an eye-catching pedicure. Casual is beautiful, and sandals can be worn with everything – jeans, shorts, leggings, dresses, skirts. They give off a more playful, down to earth vibe and allow you to walk for miles while enjoying the long-awaited sunshine. Worried about legs looking short? Why not get sandals with a tiny wedge to give add the illusion of length? I love the gladiator sandal as it’s causal but still adds a bit of intrigue to any outfit.
Colorful Winter Palette

Layering is a great way to be fashionable and keep warm during the winter months. It can be a great way to bring color to an otherwise neutral, winter color palette too. Consider wearing tights or leggings with your skirts. To make it fun wear ones that are colorful, or have patterns such as stripes. A short sleeved top over a long sleeved one can look great while also keeping you a bit more cozy. A t-shirt over a long sleeved tee can be a great casual look. Or if the shirt on top has buttons it can serve as “jacket” like look. A sweater over an oxford shirt, with the addition of a scarf and belt can look very smart. The possibilities when it comes to layering are endlessly stylish.

STAX

My favourite place to shop for women’s clothing is a New Zealand and Australian store called STAX. It is a store that mainly caters to Professional women, and I find that the cut and designs of their suits and work wear are absolutely beautiful. Best yet, although at full price some of their items are pricey, they are constantly having great sales where you can pick up items at less than half price. I bought my favourite suit there for $150 down from $400, and I am often able to pick up skirts and tops for $19 each. The quality of their products is also very commendable, and I have never had any issues with any of their garments.
Watches Are Great Accessories

I like my watches the most and also like my shirt like tops. Watches have been a craze for me as I like to use different types and variety of them, so that it goes along with my dressing and occasion that I am in. I like to have branded watches of course! I also like different types of tops which are similar to gents’ shirts. I think I look better in those. These are simple, yet look sophisticated and are easily maintainable. They can be worn with skirts as well as jeans. These shirt type tops gives me a feel of confidence and make me look smarter.
Fantastic Pair of Danskos

I have a fantastic pair of Danskos – Grape-colored Giselle Mary Janes that I purchased to travel overseas last summer. I bought them in an effort to avoid the standard “uniform” of tennis shoes and jeans that make your average American tourist stick out like a sore thumb. I remember being so nervous to buy them. They are purple, after all! They are also the first pair of shoes I’ve purchased that clear the $100 mark.
Over a year later, these are still my go-to shoes. I wear them with skirts and jeans, with funky hound’s-tooth shorts, and camel corduroys. They have pounded the pavement with me everywhere from Beijing to D.C. The combination of muted purple nubuck, rounded-toes with slightly-contrasting topstitching, and mary jane styling walk the perfect line between funky and classy.
Sound Fashion Advice
September 4, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment
The best fashion advice I could give any woman is to dress appropriately for your age and body type. I hate to see a woman who has an abundance of curves trying to squeeze into things that do nothing to flatter her figure, or a woman who is mature trying to dress like a teenager. Now I am not saying dress like a prude, but what looks good on a twenty year old, will not necessarily look good on a forty year old. Something that looks good on a woman who is a size three, will not translate to a size fourteen. There is a lot to be said about leaving something to the imagination. A mature woman dressing in blouses cut down to the stomach, or skirts that hit mid-thigh are not sexy, but trashy and makes that woman look desperate.
