Dressing In Layers

January 4, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

It is so important in the winter to not only dress warmly but smartly.  When  you are out and about shopping or visiting friends, you will be going in and out of heated and unheated areas.  Therefore, dressing in layers will help you to be comfortable.  I always have my winter coat on top, then a zip up or button up shirt/sweater, and finally a T-shirt.  Having these three items on enables me to be snuggly warm outside or cool and comfy in a hot area inside.  It is also important to dress in layers to help stay warm.  The layers enable body heat to be trapped in-between them, thus creating an insulating system for you.  Stay warm this winter!

What I Love

My favorite place to shop for women’s clothes is an online clothing store called Roamans.com. They feature clothing from size medium to size 4X. It’s been a great place to shop over the last 2 years as I’ve been losing weight.

The reason it’s my favorite place to shop is because they always have bargains and offer special discounts, such as buy one get 1/2 off the second or take 30% off your highest item. All that wouldn’t matter if the clothes were bad. They offer cutting edge clothing, shoes, handbags and undergarments, along with great outfits for business and casual wear.

I recently purchased a fall jacket and some clearance bras that were originally $29.99 and marked down to $11.99. They mail a catalog to your home for browsing or you can just go online.

Bench

One of the most popular apparel brands in the Philippines is Bench, along with many foreign brands. Bench is Filipino-owned, with a number of branches in different countries. Almost every big mall in the Philippines has a bench store in it.

Bench caters clothing and vanity needs for both men and women. herbench/ (TM) is the trademark for products that target the female customers. The store’s products include clothing items (tops, bottoms and dresses), accessories (caps, handkerchiefs, bags, shoes), underwear, vanity items (colognes/perfumes, sanitizers, pocket tissues) and even food. The clothing items are very simple. Teens and young adults like myself are the patrons of the said brand.

The last thing I have bought there are hand sanitizer (Bratsplash alcogel green apple) and a bottle of cologne (Bare Me Not). They have promos from time to time and end-of-season sale. I am proud of Bench because it is already in the international scene. I like its products because they are simple but elegant and durable. They have never been outdated. Of course, they are very affordable. You can buy a shirt for Php300 or $6, approximately and I’g going to do that after this HIT.

My Favorite Article of Women’s Clothing

My DKNY dark blue jeans are by far my most favorite clothing item. I found them on sale at Macy’s about 2 years ago during the Christmas season, marked down from their original price of $70 to the more reasonable cost of $30! They were in the junior’s section – an area I normally don’t frequent now – but I was drawn to it by the racks of appealing jeans and pants that were on sale.

The jeans are a size 4, and are slightly flared at the bottom. They are the only pair of jeans in my closet that mold perfectly to my shape, and I’ve worn them frequently (at least once a week) enough to prove that. Since they’re a dark blue color, I am comfortable wearing them for running errands, but also for slightly dressing up, when I attend casual get-togethers. To “punch them up,” all I have to do is pair the jeans with a nice-looking top and gold sandals, or black leather boots, if the weather is chilly.

It also matches beautifully with many of my clothing pieces, from dark colors to light shades such as lavender, and even works well with my bright orange t-shirt. And the jeans are weather-versatile, for the most part. Their material is not exceedingly thin, but not thick. It’s of terrific quality, in my opinion. I love wearing them for the mild climate we get in the Northeast during fall and spring. When it gets chilly, all I have to do is layer underneath leggings, and it still feels incredibly comfortable – not too loose, but not tight, either. Just perfect! The only time I stop wearing my DKNY jeans is when the summer temps exceed 90 F.

Always look for coupon codes when clothes shopping online!

Online shopping has been a boon for me. I hate to shop in malls and don’t even like to think about dueling for spaces in the parking lot. Dealing with dressing rooms, hot stores, crowds – not for me.

One thing I have learned is to ALWAYS do a Google search for discount coupon codes, even to high-end clothing places. I would say that 8 times out of 10, I get at least something off the price. It may be 10%, 15%, 20% or even free shipping, which is more than the discount. These apply to shoes, accessories, and outerwear, or pretty much anything you can think of. When the item is on sale, and you have a coupon code, it is a wonderful bargain.

My Favorite Place to Shop

American Eagle Outfitters is my favorite place to buy women’s clothes. They carry a large line of jeans, sweaters, tops, shoes and accessories. My main reason to shopping here is because they carry my size extra small and long in length for jeans. They are very trendy yet plain clothes, which I also really love. They always have great sales and always send coupons. Customers that typically shop there are teenagers to young adult. I’m 23 and have been shopping there since I was in 9th grade. Their prices are reasonable; their clothes hold up and fit well. I also love their accessories I recently purchased a handbag.

A Thrifty Place to Shop for the Best Purses

Are you a fashion icon wanna-be? Are the one that always has your nose pressed up to the glass admiring the latest and greatest? Well, I am here to tell you, if you want great fashions at thrifty price, then shop at – you guessed it! A THRIFT Shop!

You can get high-end name brand clothes and accessories for pennies on the dollar, just by following a few tips.

  1. Shop the Thrift Shops in the better areas of town. There will be better merchandise and it will turn over faster.
  2. Shop at least every other week, but weekly is better. This way you will learn how the shop places the merchandise.
  3. Do not be afraid to dig within the merchandise.
  4. Practice patience and you will be rewarded.

My last visit to my favorite thrift shop awarded my TWO high-end purses that retail for over $100 each and both were priced at $5.95, AND it was 50% off day! The thrill of the hunt is a wonderful thing. Try it, I bet you will like it!

My Little Denim Mini Skirt

September 29, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

My favorite piece of clothing is my little denim mini skirt. I bought this skirt at a Vanity shop. It is a light was jean color and it comes to about three inches above me knees. For the trim it has a ragged worn look to it that makes the skirt appear vintage. The denim material that it is made of is very soft on the skin and makes the skirt so comfortable. I like to wear this dress when I go out to see bands in my area. This skirt makes me feel so sexy when I am out. It gives me the biggest confidence boost and really shows off my legs, which happen to be one of my best physical traits.

Kohl’s

My favorite store to shop for women’s clothes is Kohl’s. Kohl’s has everything I need. The women’s section carries the latest style of jeans, shirts, decorative t-shirts, dresses, professional dress clothes, lingerie, pajamas, nylons, socks, all types of shoes, and purses in all styles. I particularly enjoy the constant sales that occur, and the selection is pretty good for the small city where I live. Since I have a Kohl’s credit card, I get at least 15% off of anything I buy 6 times per year, in addition to any of the store sales going on at the same time. They keep in good touch with customers through snail mail ads information of sales, and I believe the workers are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They welcome feedback anytime you purchase items; you go to the site, type in a code and leave feedback regarding the salesperson and your experience at the store. I believe this is a good indication of their reputation. The most recent items I purchased were three casual knit t-shirts with tie-dye designs (3 colors), a dressy sports shirt (pink polka dots on white), and a denim buttoned shirt (light blue with white buttons and a leafy white design running alongside the buttons. I wear these often. I see a lot of women my age (40-50 years) and families at our store.

Old Navy

My favorite place to shop for women’s clothing would have to be Old Navy. It’s not that it has the best quality, latest fashions or best price, but it has the best of all of those three criteria combined. I can be somewhat fashionable (if I look hard and am patient), I can have good quality stuff (after shopping there for years and knowing what the “good stuff” is), and am patient enough to wait for things to go on sale. Most of my shopping at this store is done online. They have a fabulous website where I can keep my things in my “shopping cart” until…well, until it goes out of stock if I had to! I can shop the sales online and make returns either through the mail or at a store. I spend more at this store than any other, and I really do love the clothes. I get compliments a lot on what I’m wearing, and everyone is always surprised when I tell them where I got it. And for the amount of clothing that I get at Old Navy, I would only get a few items elsewhere. Love it!
