Fuzzy White Neck Scarf
February 16, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
My favorite item of winter clothing is a fuzzy white neck scarf. Many times fuzzy items can be scratchy, but not my white scarf. It looks great with whatever I am wearing out, whether I am dressing up or dressing down. The funny thing about my scarf is that when I bought it, I didn’t even want the scarf, I wanted the sweater that came with it. Turns out the sweater looks terrible on me and fits awkwardly so the only part of the set that I use is the scarf. It is pretty, fashionable and helps keep my ears warm when I go outside.
Heather Gray Homemade Scarf

My favorite piece of winter clothing is a heather gray homemade scarf that I have had since my mother handed it down to me when I was in high school. She made it while in college in the seventies, so it has been around for a while! It is really long and very wide which is especially nice on an extremely cold day. It can be wound several times around my neck and face, so it is incredibly helpful! It has the fringe edges as well, and is cable knit and very thick. It is a rather itchy worsted wool, but I love it.
Leopard Print Cashmere Scarf

My favorite winter article of clothing is my leopard print cashmere scarf. I bought it on clearance at Nordstrom in New York City. In New York, you have to be prepared to weather all elements, so to speak, and my scarf does the trick in winter. It is warm, and I can wrap it around my neck with my coat, use it as a wrap in the office, and even wrap it around my face on those below-freezing, windy nights. I usually wear all black, so the scarf acts as a stylish-yet-functional accent to my wardrobe. I know I will use this for years to come.
Old Navy Pea Coat

I love the wintertime because I get to wear my favorite scarves and coats. I get scarves from all over the place; and I have a large collection of them. However, my favorite piece of winter clothing is my pea coat. I got this pea coat from Old Navy earlier this year and I absolutely love it. As I said, it came from Old Navy and it is a really good quality jacket and it is so warm and comfortable. It is an ankle length pea coat that is gray in color. Since it is a long jacket, I don’t normally wear it just around town; but I normally wear it to church or to other special occasions as it is a dressier looking jacket.
My Favorite Winter Outfit of Boots, Jeans, and a Button Light Sweater

The outfit that I like best for women during the winter season is boots, jeans, button light sweater, scarf, and a trench coat or a pea coat. The boots should be slightly below the knee with the jeans tucked into them. The sweater can be any color, as long as it does not clash with the trench coat or pea coat. The scarf color can match the coat, of be a neutral color. The scarf can be worn on the head or around the neck. This style will work for woman with any type of hair cut, and body size.
Burnt Orange Scarf

My favorite article of winter clothing is a burnt orange scarf. The scarf was purchased in Munich, Germany during a trip that was given to me as a graduation gift. The scarf is my favorite piece because it is my favorite color, and it kept cold while people watching. While in Germany, after sightseeing all day, we would sit at a local café on the patio; most cafes do not have indoor seating, and would have a cup of hot tea. The scarf would keep my head and neck warm while drinking tea in thirty degree weather. To this day, I still use the scarf when it is cold outside, like yesterday when it was snowing in Houston, TX.
Hand Crocheted Scarf

My favorite article of winter clothing is my hand crocheted scarf. The one I’m wearing now is over 8 feet long and can be wrapped around both my head and neck. It’s made of the softest yarn - a blend of angora and lambswool. It’s multi-colored - white, grey and black, so it goes with everything. I wear it with my coat and also as a fashion accessory with sweaters and fleece tops. I made this one in October of this year and will wear it until spring. In the fall of every year I crochet a new scarf to wear and then donate last year’s scarf to the homeless shelter in Painesville. I get a lot of compliments on my crocheting ability and make scarves for my friends and family members, too.
Multi-Functional Scarf

The absolute must have in any woman’s winter wardrobe is the multi-functional scarf. A scarf can be used for so much more than keeping your neck warm. It is a statement piece to your outfit whether you are at work, out to dinner, meeting up with friends all the while keeping the blustery weather off your skin. I have an array of scarves that I use every day in the winter time. The scarves have been collected over the years and every fall I seem to add more to my closet. Pick them up at your local shops around town or shop discount stores for great prices. Wrapped twice around my neck and tied in a quick knot and I’m good to go for the whole day. Not only do have I have a warm neck, I look great at the same time. What a way to show off your fashion sense and keep out the cold.
Turtlenecks Reign Supreme!

Layering is essential to keep warm and fashionable during the winter weather. My favorite way to dress during the cold months is to put on a turtleneck pullover and then put a blouse or shirt over it. You can wear it buttoned or unbuttoned, tucked in or tails out, with or without a belt. The turtleneck is really the key component in the outfit. It can be any color to coordinate or match the blouse or shirt, or a contrasting color. I have two black turtlenecks (my personal favorite) and two red turtlenecks (my second favorite) and another dozen or so in assorted colors and hues. In addition to helping you keep warm and toasty, they draw attention to your face and can be dressed up with jewelry or scarves. I also wear a lot of sleeveless turtlenecks in the summertime, but they’re very lightweight and sheer.
Scarves As Fashion Statements

My favorite article of winter clothing is a scarf. Scarves keep you warm where you most need it: your neck, face, and head. They can be easily taken off and put back on as you go in and out of buildings or cars—much better and easier climate control than bulky sweaters or coats. Scarves can also function as fashion statements. There is a large variety of types of scarves on the market, and you can make a statement about how you are and what you like by your choice of scarf. Scarves can also be tied and wrapped around you in a variety of ways, creating a even greater fashion statement.
