Fuzzy White Neck Scarf

February 16, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

My favorite item of winter clothing is a fuzzy white neck scarf. Many times fuzzy items can be scratchy, but not my white scarf. It looks great with whatever I am wearing out, whether I am dressing up or dressing down. The funny thing about my scarf is that when I bought it, I didn’t even want the scarf, I wanted the sweater that came with it. Turns out the sweater looks terrible on me and fits awkwardly so the only part of the set that I use is the scarf. It is pretty, fashionable and helps keep my ears warm when I go outside.

Heather Gray Homemade Scarf

My favorite piece of winter clothing is a heather gray homemade scarf that I have had since my mother handed it down to me when I was in high school.  She made it while in college in the seventies, so it has been around for a while!  It is really long and very wide which is especially nice on an extremely cold day.  It can be wound several times around my neck and face, so it is incredibly helpful!  It has the fringe edges as well, and is cable knit and very thick.  It is a rather itchy worsted wool, but I love it.

My Favorite Winter Outfit of Boots, Jeans, and a Button Light Sweater

The outfit that I like best for women during the winter season is boots, jeans, button light sweater, scarf, and a trench coat or a pea coat. The boots should be slightly below the knee with the jeans tucked into them. The sweater can be any color, as long as it does not clash with the trench coat or pea coat. The scarf color can match the coat, of be a neutral color. The scarf can be worn on the head or around the neck. This style will work for woman with any type of hair cut, and body size.

Colorful Winter Palette

Layering is a great way to be fashionable and keep warm during the winter months.  It can be a great way to bring color to an otherwise neutral, winter color palette too.  Consider wearing tights or leggings with your skirts.  To make it fun wear ones that are colorful, or have patterns such as stripes.  A short sleeved top over a long sleeved one can look great while also keeping you a bit more cozy.  A t-shirt over a long sleeved tee can be a great casual look.  Or if the shirt on top has buttons it can serve as “jacket” like look.  A sweater over an oxford shirt, with the addition of a scarf and belt can look very smart.  The possibilities when it comes to layering are endlessly stylish.

Wearing Tights with Skirt and Boots

Do you get easily chilled in the winter? Next time you venture out into the elements, pass on the pants and try layering a warm skirt with tights and boots. It is great look that you can mix and match to any occasion, from business to casual to sporty to fun and funky. Far from being drafty, you will find that a mid-length skirt keeps your legs surprisingly warm on those cold, windy winter days. Choose flowing skirts made of soft, warm fabric like wool, corduroy, or heavier knits. Paired with a fashionable sweater and scarf, you will have the feeling of being wrapped in a cozy blanket. Complete the look with a pair of winter weight tights, available in a wide array of colors and patterns. Pull on a pair of warm socks over the tights, slip into your favorite mid-calf or knee high boots and you’ll be ready to brave even the worst winter weather.

Scarves As Fashion Statements

My favorite article of winter clothing is a scarf.  Scarves keep you warm where you most need it: your neck, face, and head. They can be easily taken off and put back on as you go in and out of buildings or cars—much better and easier climate control than bulky sweaters or coats.  Scarves can also function as fashion statements.  There is a large variety of types of scarves on the market, and you can make a statement about how you are and what you like by your choice of scarf.  Scarves can also be tied and wrapped around you in a variety of ways, creating a even greater fashion statement.

I Love a Good Scarf

I love a good scarf. They can add just the right amount of splash and color to a drab winter outfit, or tied around a dress or skirt ensemble to tie the whole thing together. You can wrap them, knot them, belt them, tie them like a tie — pretty much anything your imagination can come up with. My favorite article of clothing is a scarf I found at a department store at a deep discount, with a red, yellow and orange Middle East-inspired pattern. I’ve worn it with dresses, or over my collar in the winter. And I’m proud to know it was a great bargain besides.
