Samoan Print Summer Shirt
August 22, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
Among the many articles of clothing my email penpal from New Zealand has sent me is my favorite summer shirt. It is light tan, collarless, with short sleeves and a short row of black buttons at the neckline. It is from Samoa and the fabric is printed with black markings from that culture. I wear it with jeans or a skirt and it is a great conversation starter. Sometimes I wear it with a black stone necklace from the island nation of Vanuatu, also a gift. The shirt is a light cotton and very comfortable on a hot summer day.
New York and Company is My Favorite Place for Women’s Clothing
July 5, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
The absolute best place to shop for women’s clothes is New York and Company. The style of clothes ranges from casual to business attire. When I go to the mall, I can make one stop and get everything that I need at New York and Company.
I actually just went shopping for my summer clothes at New York and Company. I was able to buy clothes for work as well as casual clothes. They have tank tops, t-shirts, bathing, suits, shorts (Bermuda, crops and shorts), dresses, skirts, vests, etc. I also bought light weight pants and light weight long sleeve shorts for work.
They sell sandals as well as jewelry. Do you plan on just lounging around for the day? They have the Comfort Zone which features comfortable clothes. Do you plan on working out? They have InMotion Fitness which has the most comfortable clothes to work out in.
The best thing about New York and Company is the sales. Shirts normally range from $20 to $40 while pants normally range from $30 to $50. However, they have a sale at least twice a month. If you give them your e-mail, they will send you news and coupons weekly. Most coupons are for $25 off a $75 purchase.
New York and Company is a one-stop shop for everything you need for the summer. I am heading back up there this weekend to buy some Bermuda shorts and tank tops!
Ann Taylor Loft

My favorite place to shop is Ann Taylor Loft. Their style matches mine fairly well, so it’s always easy to find something there. I tend to buy their jeans and tops…a lot of my work clothes come from there. (My work attire is “creative business casual”.) I sometimes buy jewelry, but only if it’s on sale. They do have frequent sales and coupons, so I try to shop when I can take advantage of those, but I will pay full price for items if they are great items and I have an immediate use for them. On an average visit to the store, I probably spend $30 to $100.

Turtlenecks Reign Supreme!

Layering is essential to keep warm and fashionable during the winter weather. My favorite way to dress during the cold months is to put on a turtleneck pullover and then put a blouse or shirt over it. You can wear it buttoned or unbuttoned, tucked in or tails out, with or without a belt. The turtleneck is really the key component in the outfit. It can be any color to coordinate or match the blouse or shirt, or a contrasting color. I have two black turtlenecks (my personal favorite) and two red turtlenecks (my second favorite) and another dozen or so in assorted colors and hues. In addition to helping you keep warm and toasty, they draw attention to your face and can be dressed up with jewelry or scarves. I also wear a lot of sleeveless turtlenecks in the summertime, but they’re very lightweight and sheer.

Silver & Sapphire Bracelet

My favorite article of clothing would have to be my silver and sapphire bracelet. It was an inheritance from my grandmother Julia. She was a little on the eccentric side, but her jewelry was always impeccable in taste. It is a large openwork cuff bracelet. It criss-crosses in a basket weave pattern with the sapphires placed on the areas where the silver crosses. It is approximately 2 inches wide with 24 sapphires. It is very special to me and I where it on the occasions where I want to remember my grandmother and when I just want that feeling on being close to her. It is definitely one of my most cherished possessions.
Ann Taylor is a Great Place to Shop

My favorite place to shop for women’s clothes is Ann Taylor. The clothes would appeal to a suburban woman. They have a variety of pieces that can be dressed up for work or worn more casually. Their clothes seem to appeal to a variety of women from women in their early 20s to women in there late 50s. They carry up to size 16 in most stores, but I believe sizes 18 and 20 are available online. Although some of the clothes can be a bit pricey, there is often a variety of clothing in the back of the store on clearance racks. These are usually the same pieces of the full price items, they are just in different colors and they are a fraction of the price! I recently bought a knit top for just $10! The store offers a variety of cuts that flatter most body types and all of the stores I have been in have a large petite section. Ann Taylor also offers shoes, jewelry, and handbags to complete any look. Whether you are looking for a complete look or just to find a couple well made pieces at a great price, Ann Taylor is the place to go!
Tips For a Better Appearance

Women are generally on lookout for free tips which will enhance their appearance. A person having a short neck should avoid wearing high collared clothes and short necklaces too. To create an impression of a long neck you should wear clothes with deep necklines. A tall woman should avoid very short or very long skirts as this will draw attention to their height. Women having pear shaped body structure should wear light color tops and dark colored clothes on the lower body. This will draw more attention to top half of their body. Pear shaped women should go for free flowing a-line skirts and dresses. Women who are heavy on top should avoid tight and clingy tops. Wearing V-necked tops will make them seem smaller. They should avoid shoulder padded tops and should stick to thin and light materials on top.
