Little Black Dress

December 22, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

My favorite piece of clothing is a little black dress I own. I purchased it online through JC Penny at the end of the season 2 years ago and it was only $14.99. I only bought it because it was cheap and thought I may get some use out of it but it has become my favorite dress I own. It’s the perfect black dress for weddings and other dress up occasions. It’s casual enough to wear clubbing yet dressy enough to wear to formal affairs. I never worry about people noticing I already wore it before because I dress it up with different accessories and shoes and no one even notices. Every girl must own a little black dress and I have mine!

Michael Kors Pumps

My favorite piece of clothing is my Michael Kors pumps that I purchased 5 years ago at Nordstrom. The simplistic design and neutral tan color make for the most versatile shoe I have ever owned. Not to mention the straps that hugs the body of the foot and provides just enough sexiness to walk a little taller. Perhaps the most surprising quality of the Michael Kors are the cushion interior which are always comfortable and provide for an easy walk in the high heeled shoes. I can wear these shoes for any type of occasion from work to girls’ night out and even for a hot date on the town. Even the most basic outfits are jazzed up with this wonderful pair of shoes.

Gujaratie Style Sari

I am an Asian. I love the sari draped by women in our region. Sari is a traditional item of clothing which women have been wearing since quite long. I wear a sari on different occasions like when I have some relatives visiting me. Sari is such attire which makes all women look good irrespective of their figure. Sari covers all the physical faults of your body and gives a graceful look. There are different ways of draping a sari and the main two are the Gujarati style and the Bengali style. Fashion designers now days come up with many ways of draping a sari and some are complicated but look very good on women. The accessories which can be used with the sari are many. From hair ornaments to the toes on your feet you have many ornaments or accessories to wear. You can select those which suit you best.

STAX

My favourite place to shop for women’s clothing is a New Zealand and Australian store called STAX. It is a store that mainly caters to Professional women, and I find that the cut and designs of their suits and work wear are absolutely beautiful. Best yet, although at full price some of their items are pricey, they are constantly having great sales where you can pick up items at less than half price. I bought my favourite suit there for $150 down from $400, and I am often able to pick up skirts and tops for $19 each. The quality of their products is also very commendable, and I have never had any issues with any of their garments.

London Fashion Week

December 17, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

I didn’t wear any colors Monday in mourning. Bless all the hard working people and the good souls at LEH.
London fashion week has been disappointing so far. I have seen Mac Women and animals from the jungle so far. But not a single beautiful dress in sight. It’s been a long and depressing week for me. The worst part is that it’s only Tuesday.

But I’m trying to keep my spirit up. We have the Milan fashion week next week and then the world-saving Paris fashion week the week after. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the financial market will stabilize by the time the Versace show starts. Then I will be able to go home before 9pm to browse the internet with you, my fellow fashion lovers.

Hand Woven Woolen Shawl

December 16, 2008 by admin · 1 Comment

On a visit to India I purchased a hand woven woolen shawl from a vendor on the street of Jaipur. It is a light brown color and I knew when I purchased it that these shawls are worn by Indian men over their long cotton shirts. It was winter in India and I had not brought any warm outwear with me because I was unaware that the winter nights there got very cold. When I returned home to the USA, I put the shawl away and almost forgot about it until I moved to Florida and found a need for something to wear on chilly tropical nights. This shawl has become my most wearable and valued piece of clothing, as it is the right neutral color to wear with almost everything else in my wardrobe and can be thrown lightly over a shoulder or wrapped closely against a stiff breeze.

Colors: Your Best friend

December 15, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

The very first thing I try to accomplish in fashion, just in general, is colors. They are key to your entire outfit. Certain colors work, and others don’t. As a male, I find colors to be a difficult task when choosing and at the same time such an easy thing to match with. What I mean by this is, after I take the time to find the right color, it’s easy for me to match. As a male, I stay from the vibrant colors. The bright yellows and oranges and purples, I stay away. You definately do not want to walk around the streets looking like a life size Rainbrow Brite do you? Men can be easily outfitted in colors that are modern, nothing too flashy but nothing to dull. I prefer colors like white, light grey, maroon, baby blue and ect. Just to name a few colors. Ideally you want something that has a nice hue to it, not too bright and not to flat. Wearing a flat color is basically wearing all black. Say I have a black shirt, ok? Black is universal so it goes with anything. But I need something to pop with that black. So I’d choose perhaps a maroon undershirt or I’d reverse it so that my maroon shirt is the main focus, hinted with the black. Moving to jeans, you don’t want the typical bleached washed jeans. Most jeans are moving away from the modern light blue and moving toward a dull blue with a hint of bleach on the front. These are the ideal jeans for any man as they can be worn with anything, and I mean ANYTHING. I wear my dress shirts with jeans, i wear everything you can think of with my jeans. Jeans should be the least of a man’s problems. Shoes is wear we seem to take the wrong road. Black are great, obviously. But variation is a beautiful thing. Brown can only be pulled off only with shirt outfits. Brown dress shoes obviously are the best, Raw hide brown sneakers goes great with a pair of darker jeans. Dark jeans can be matched with white also, to give you pop. This is seen more in terms of a Black t-shirt, dark jeans and then bright white sneakers. You see the pop? Dark colors are fine, but you NEED to have that pop. So next time you find yourself decked out in a funeral wardrobe, remember it’s always better to have a little color in your life!

Shopping With My Wife At Macy’s

December 14, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

I love to shop for my wife at the Macy’s. They are located almost in all cities and carry a wide array of clothing ranging from lingerie to business suits and even wedding attire in some stores. They carry well-known brands and also some alternate brands which are really very affordable. I just got a lovely evening gown for my wife for under $150 and it was a steal. They keep running specials and discounts and sometimes the prices are real bargains if you make an effort of looking thoroughly. Most customers I have seen there are from a well to do median income group. Be sure to check them for Black Friday and Thanksgiving sale. You are bound to get some great deals there.
