Thrift Stores

March 2, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

My favorite place to shop would be at a thrift store. I know how many people are aghast at just the idea, but if you find the right thrift store, you’d be amazed at the bargains you can find. You can even find items that still have their original tags on them.

The key to a thrift store is to go often, because their stock moves in and out fast. I generally spend less than $20 there, but come out with some great finds. I can’t tell you how long I had been looking for a black skirt. I looked in all the major department stores JC Penney, Sears, Belk, Macys, etc… Guess where I finally found it? A thrift store. It’s a great skirt and fits me well. Best of all, it didn’t cost very much!

Funky Scarves are in for Fall Fashion

This fall try using a lightweight scarf to spruce up an old outfit. Printed and colorful scarves work best. You can often find these at thrift stores. If you cannot find the scarf you like, try making your own out of vintage fabric.
Loosely tie the scarf around your neck or let it hang loose. You can also let the scarf double as a belt.  If you need to upgrade an outfit for work or a night out, pick a scarf with a hint of metallic threads in it. For the ultimate casual look, use a light knitted or crochet scarf. Pair it up with a blouse and a flowy skirt for a pretty hippie chic outfit.
