Tips For a Better Appearance

August 30, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

Women are generally on lookout for free tips which will enhance their appearance. A person having a short neck should avoid wearing high collared clothes and short necklaces too. To create an impression of a long neck you should wear clothes with deep necklines. A tall woman should avoid very short or very long skirts as this will draw attention to their height. Women having pear shaped body structure should wear light color tops and dark colored clothes on the lower body. This will draw more attention to top half of their body. Pear shaped women should go for free flowing a-line skirts and dresses. Women who are heavy on top should avoid tight and clingy tops. Wearing V-necked tops will make them seem smaller. They should avoid shoulder padded tops and should stick to thin and light materials on top.

Most of us go out into the hot sun and sunscreen lotions help to prevent any damages to the skin and maintain the natural looks. Doing exercises, yoga and meditation, drinking at least 8 to 10 glasses of water per day and eating a well balanced diet improves the health and looks of a person. A good wardrobe maintained according to the current trends in fashion is a must. Hair and nails must be cleaned regularly. Suitable lipstick and foundation creams can be applied to make ourselves look very attractive. Dresses must be worn to suit the body. A person must avoid stress to prevent aged looks. One must wear suitable cosmetics and shoes to match the dresses. Tasteful selection of jewelry, costumes and shoes help to improve the fashionable look of a person.

BLACK IS THE WAY TO GO

My number one fashion tip for women is “when in doubt, go with black”. Black looks flattering on every body type. It is an acceptable color for every occasion. Whether you are going to a work function, a funeral or even a wedding; black is never a bad choice. Black is a particularly good choice for women with larger body types. Black tends to have a slimming effect on most women. I do not recommend wearing all black all of the time. No one wants to be thought of as dreary. There are many ways to incorporate black into your wardrobe without looking like a member of the Adams Family. You can pair black pants or a skirt with a brighter top. Or you can complement a black dress with a colorful scarf. Make sure to add color to your palette as well.

A very important fashion tip for older women

One of the biggest fashion mistakes older women make is trying to look like a 20 year old. I have seen 60+ year old women shopping in the junior department. It’s admirable when an older woman eats well, exercises and takes care of herself, but she can become a laughingstock if she is dressing in Hannah Montana tee shirts and mini skirts.

An older woman can dress very fashionably if she looks for age appropriate clothing. Many stores including Macys, Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Penneys carry clothing that looks great on older women. It’s important to find the right size and style for your shape. One thing that can help you find something that looks good, fits well and is age appropriate is to take along a friend or 2 who are the same age. Make sure you head towards the Misses or Womens section of the store. Find several items you like and try them on. Ask your friend’s opinion.

An older woman can still look young and hip while dressing age appropriately.

The Rights Stripes Are Slenderizing

Most of us would like to look slimmer and want our clothes to help us achieve this. For those who are tired of solid black or other dark colors, the right stripes can do the trick. Avoid horizontal stripes which make you look broader and stick with vertical stripes. Narrow vertical stripes in a subtle color combination such as dark brown/tan or black/gray are the most flattering to your figure. They create an optical illusion of looking taller and leaner. Sweaters with a vertical knit or ribbed pattern accomplish this also. If you are wearing a bright stripe combination such as white and green, match or harmonize the blouse or skirt to the darker colored stripe to accentuate the slimming effect. Even a plaid pattern with pronounced vertical striping can still create a svelte silhouette.

Take Off Visible Pounds by Dressing for Your Size

Women who dress for their size tend to look a little more put together and if you had to guess their weight you would guess smaller than they actually were. Here are a few tips on choosing clothing to fit your size:

  1. Clothes that are not snug or pull against the chest.
  2. Tops that hit right at the hip always give a slimming effect but make sure they fit loosely.
  3. Black, as always, is very slimming.
  4. Stay away from Heavy prints or stripes.
  5. Pants that give you a little breathing room.
  6. Always buy clothes that you are going to be comfortable in. Everyone will notice if you are constantly tugging on your clothes all day and it isn’t good for the clothes themselves.
  7. When you buy clothes always follow the washing instructions so that they do not shrink and you are stuck with a smaller version of what you once loved.

Plus-sized Women Should Stay Away From Upsizing

August 30, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

As the husband of a plus-sized woman, I have heard my wife complain many, many times about upsizing. Upsizing is when a company takes an article of clothing, like a shirt or skirt, that was designed for “normal” sized people and makes it in a larger size without changing the design in any way shape or form. Upsizing can create some absolutely horrible fashion mistakes in the plus-sized world, as not all bodies are created equally and no two bodies look/fit the same in an individual article of clothing. What you end up with in upsized clothing are often unflattering outfits that do not fit a plus-sized woman’s body correctly and make the woman wearing the outfit look unattractive. Clothing companies should really quit this practice altogether and plus-sized women need to be aware that this is happening in the first place. Be very choosy with what you wear, and you can be just as gorgeous as any woman on the street. Just be sure to pick clothing that is specifically designed to show off a plus-sized woman’s assets, not her size.

Tips for Looking Great

In today’s society everyone wants to look their best. For women, the choices can seem endless and overwhelming. Should I mix patterns with stripes, heels, flats? The questions go on and on. If you decide to where a printed pattern you should always match the size of your print to your body size. If you are a very petite woman then you can pull off a very small pattern. If you are petite and you wear large patterns, you can get lost in them. The same is true for the larger woman. If you wear a small pattern, it becomes confusing and overwhelming because there is so much of it. Remember to keep your patterns in line with your body size.

Tips for Short Girls!

A great fashion tip for women who are short and curvy like myself is to wear shirts that go down to your waist and pants that flare out at the bottom to take away from your hips. Always be sure to hem your pants, too. Clothes that are too long make you look like you’re swimming in material! Getting your clothes tailored can add up, but they make all the difference in your appearance. Also be sure to avoid horizontal stripes as they make you look fat. Opt for vertical as they will give people the illusion that you’re much taller than you actually are. Chunky shoes, heels are always a help, too!

Less Is More When It Comes to Style

With makeup, think “enhance,” not camouflage. Be natural, look fresh and clean and you will look younger no matter what your age. Apply all your makeup with a light touch choosing natural colors that complement your skin tone, hair and eye color.

Few women can flaunt dozens of chains, rings and bracelets without looking gaudy. It’s nice to have jewelry, but you don’t have to wear it all at the same time. A few nice pieces keep your look delicate and feminine.

Keep your clothing simple. Classic lines and colors that compliment your coloring are always in fashion. Avoid gaudy prints and flashy colors that will be out of style before you find something to wear with them. Let your play clothes show off your zany side.
